Excuses, Nothing But Excuses

I have a valid excuse for ditching this blog for the past 2 months.
No, really .
Sunday afternoon this past November 16th on the way to a lovely mother-daughter lunc h at Applebees we were tboned at an intersection right on the passengers side of the car ,were I was sitting.
Yes,you read correctly ,I was hit by a Chevy Silverado(2-3k lb pick up) at about my shoulder.
Thanks to my father's insistence on a safe car, German engineering (front & side airbags and a steel bar in the door), and an off duty nurse who arrived moments after the crash) I am alive.
My daughter is fine ( but shaken), the other driver walked away and his wife also had some rib issues.
However , I have three fractures in my pelvis , and cracked ribs.So I can only walk with a wheeled walker or use a wheelchair .
I can't lift my legs, and need a potty in the room and a hospital bed.Can't shower, can't get out of bed alone,leave the house (unless per stretcher )...well you are getting the picure by now, I presume.I am on narcotics for most of the day, but am lucid.
Also I have a pelvic fixator ( like a big bar )in my tummy that keeps my pelvis still as I heal.
That sucker is stuck in with exposed pins.
It always hurts me.It comes out over the next few weeks thank goodness.
I will not be totally
healed for another three months .
It's been a hard ,painful recovery so far.
My Eddie is taking care of me and he is a wonderful nurse.Steff steps in too and helps her Ma out .Also her new boyfriend Dave has been giving us a hand.
Childbirth is a paltry pain experience next to this ordeal.

Oh dear April, I'm so sorry to hear about your accident....I'm happy that your on the mend....I'm sure it will take time, and therapy, but thank God you survived ....your lucky to have your special fella Eddie with you.....and I'm happy that Steph is ok... this I'm sure put a damper on your Christmas, but there is always next year.....God Speed, and know that I'm thinking of you.... judy
