Stunned in the Pioneer Valley

Stunned in the Pioneer Valley

Health testing results from last week ..a real cornucopia of facts about me & my health !

Blood sugar normal

Heart tests excellent

Thyroid normal

I'm anemic ( again)

Also I have low magnesium ( which could contribute to my blood pressure issues).

Now the suck news:

I tested allergic to
36 food items ( that would be everything they tested me for ).

The worst offenders :

tomatoes
soybeans
peanuts
vegetable mix( see Dad it was my gut that made me have my face down in the ditch)
almonds
codfish
celery

The other 30 are moderate to low allergies.

I have stomach cramps and indigestion often, and I have a perenially stuffed nose as well.I also have other allergies ( trees, dust & mites , pollen , dogs, cats and those others that I haven't been tested for yet ).

The MD thinks I may have what's called a "leaky gut" that isn't absorbing nutrients .

See I knew I'm not heavy for no reason ...it's food allergies !

I have to change the way & what I eat , take probiotics & iron protein everyday ,digestive enzymes ( 3 times a day) and a new kind of magnesium that I should be able to absorb better .

I have to go back on blood pressure meds because even though I'm working out, losing weight , and watching salt , it's still not enough.

When agitated or nervous I go up too high.

I don't want to stroke at 43, or damage my kidneys.

I'll be taking a low dose ace inhibitor.

If I can begin to feel better all this drama will be worth it.

oh, man! one of the only fish i will eat is cod! see, i bet you were eating all of the above mentioned items because it was "healthy"! now, you have permission to explore other options, like "ben and jerry", godiva, etc! LOL! maybe you can come up with a new weight loss program...let's see, chocolate, beer, ice cream and cookie diet! wouldn't that be great...loose 10 pounds a week eating everything you like 'cuz it won't make you sick!
good luck, sweetie.

That's quite the list there, missy! At least there are lot more probiotic foods out there now, like bread and yogurt and cheese.

Oh man...what a disaster. I take probiotics, too. I started doing that during chemo. My diet is constantly changing as I get older and I have to admit to hanging on to a log of changes I made when being treated for cancer. It is *SO* not fun.

Let's focus on the positive though--you're doing a great job in taking care of yourself! You're working out, you're changing your diet, you're investigating the sources of unhealthiness. Those are all daunting and yet, here you are, doing all of it and more! Take care, April.
