Well, Steam My Puddings !
To quote a line from Blackadder's Christmas Carol.
It's that time of year again, gorging under the festive glow of shiny things scattered all about .
Steff,Soph and I just hung out last night eating maple glazed nitrate-free ham, green beans and homemade choco-chip caramel scones while watching our favorite Christmas episodes of "Ab Fab", "Keeping Up Appearances ",and" Father Ted."
Our dog's upcoming surgery for glaucoma has definitely dampened our festive spirits.
We are alone for the first time in years .
After Tom died , we went off to live with my parents .
My Mom's the X-mas Grinch and my Dad's a Santa Claus wanna-bee.
Living between those extremes was sometimes a bit maddening !
I am usually in charge of Christmas correspondence , designing holiday cards with our family's pictures pasted into hilarious yuletide situations.
This year we are sitting on top of boxes with a sick dog , so pasting viking horns , garden gnomes or Christmas ornaments on family members was pretty much the last thing on my mind.
Out rolled some cards I had bought eons ago that I found squirreled away in an old box , planted a few scribblings in them and off they went.
Maybe next year, the thought of elves who look like my family rolling a yule log down a driveway will entice me back into the card making spirit.
Oh, yeah -- Happy Christmas all !

Nothing like being in the middle of two extremes.
Ab Fab is one of my favorite television programs of all time. The scones sound great! I hope you had a great Christmas!

I hope Sophies surgery goes well......I don't remember if she is old or young..... I had to laugh at your other blog, (couldn't comment) but I was promised a man in my life about 5 years ago.....still have seen him......she read my zodiac sign, and was pretty close, but hey where's the man.....lol Hope you have a good Christmas.....probably SAD and GLAD to be just you three......catch ya later....judy
