April's Ramblings,Scrambling&Amblings

Safety Concerns

Today I feel like reposting a little something

I wrote last year on a bulletin board I frequent ( revamped a bit since it’s original debut ) in

honor of  never giving cheese too much power over your life.

Beware citizens ,

for  this ancient miracle substance is not a panacea ,

there are a few places cheese should not be used:

1) as a bandage

2) to plug  tires

3) as a laxative

4) for cleaning windows

5) as a pillow

6) to keep rodents* away*

7) hair rollers

This has been a public service announcement from the

 International Board on Cheese  Safety.

Because You Deserve To Know.

Tunic Travails

Yes, it's true ,I have lost some weight lately.

But am I , and consequently the world at large who are conscripted voyeurs to my fashion adventures, ready to see me sport  a partially zipped  tunic style hoodie  in light green from Land's End ?

Being a pear shape  translates into most fabrics  clinging  to my  ba-donk-a-donk booty , wide child bearing hips w/ rounded  belly and  so are a definite  couture no-no.

Basically I can buy nothing from Wally-World .All their  chubette chic  sticks on me like cooked  minute rice  in your bowl.

I find the world of  togs for the shape challenged to be prejudiced towards  my apple-shaped sisters.

My Mom's an apple , she can find any old shirt to cover her  butter -loving shame , and with her the louder the pattern the  more she likes it.

So what if a few  onlooker's retinas get fried , the  startling colors do their  job by totally deflecting  from her largest figure flaw ( in her mind anyway)...

I thank the great spark plug everyday for  chiffon, spandex and  slick polyester .

These fabrics make everyday  life as a bottom heavy woman  easier for the population at large and as a clothing mandatory kind of gal .

They glide off my curves  and  leave my exact proportions to the imagination .

I wear a lot of three piece  sets   in solid colors  ( shirt, cami, slacks), the  attention being focused on elab orate accessories ,  lastly comfy shoes to finish off the look.

As I begin to lose more weight, I'll have to adjust my clothing as well.

I just hope  that I don't have to resort to  that hoochie mama Lane Bryant  look I always see them hawking  at the mall....

shrugs over a  tight cami  w/ capri pants *shudder*.

PS The tunic was too small and I had to send it back.

*pout*

Same Thing , Different Place

Our former hot pink Texas Azealeas .

And now , our  Massachusetts  Gibraltar Azaleas:

I was missing the pink ones, but these are a fine replacement !

Also , I'm not allergic to them.Amazing, I know.

That's a good thing.

And Now the Rest of the List

I'm less allergic to beef , chicken , turkey and shellfish than I am to codfish ,salmon ,and pork.

I looked around and found out I can eat spelt ( which is good considering I still have 20 lbs of flour in my freezer from a mistake ), and rye.

But cereal, I mean I am allergic to oats, barley , rice and corn !

I love Grapenuts, and sugar free granolas.Frown

I have lower grade allergy  issues with dairy ( not giving up cheese no way no how , gut be damned),  white beans, carrots , but my real issues are with cauliflower, brocolli, green peppers ...

I can still eat asst squash, asparaagus, green/wax  beans, cukes, brussel sprouts , and  fruits without real issues.

This will be a challenge , there's no doubt about that ...

Stunned in the Pioneer Valley

Health testing results from last week ..a real cornucopia of facts about me & my health !

Blood sugar normal

Heart tests excellent

Thyroid normal

I'm anemic ( again)

Also I have low magnesium ( which could contribute to my blood pressure issues).

Now the suck news:

I tested allergic to
36 food items ( that would be everything they tested me for ).

The worst offenders :

tomatoes
soybeans
peanuts
vegetable mix( see Dad it was my gut that made me have my face down in the ditch)
almonds
codfish
celery

The other 30 are moderate to low allergies.

I have stomach cramps and indigestion often, and I have a perenially stuffed nose as well.I also have other allergies ( trees, dust & mites , pollen , dogs, cats and those others that I haven't been tested for yet ).

The MD thinks I may have what's called a "leaky gut" that isn't absorbing nutrients .

See I knew I'm not heavy for no reason ...it's food allergies !

I have to change the way & what I eat , take probiotics & iron protein everyday ,digestive enzymes ( 3 times a day) and a new kind of magnesium that I should be able to absorb better .

I have to go back on blood pressure meds because even though I'm working out, losing weight , and watching salt , it's still not enough.

When agitated or nervous I go up too high.

I don't want to stroke at 43, or damage my kidneys.

I'll be taking a low dose ace inhibitor.

If I can begin to feel better all this drama will be worth it.
