Lost In Translation For December
I signed up for a monthly newsletter Italian cooking a few years ago ,and told them I wanted it in English.
They never send it in English.
So I have a little fun attempting to figure it out.
Gentile Signora April ,
Tanti auguri e buona lettura!
I recognize a few words, as usual:traditional,festive, recipes , Christmas, eating ,decorations,4 corners,gifts and buffet .
Now to see what the altavista babelfish translator has to say about this:
Kind Mrs. April,
the kitchen enters in festivity: from the plates of the tradition to the more innovative prescriptions, beyond 280 pages of ideas dedicated to the NATO them. But also the lean supper of, bocconcini sfiziosi for a buffet portafortuna, the decorations for a fir all to eat... In more one special dedicated to the tables, the honor and the gifts in order to celebrate the beautiful day of the year. It continues, moreover, the Ballarini promotion with the stamp from square furnace.
Many auguries and good reading!
Hmm, am I any wiser now ?!
Samooches For Gobbler Day To All That Celebrate !
Our furniture finally arrived after a lonnnnnnng day yesterday.
Only one broken thing that I had to put in claims. When they took apart our bar in Texas they managed to bust a piece that relates ( not immediately visable) to the entire piece.*sigh*
I took pictures and filled out the form.
I don't know what they do, won't find out until Friday.
The furniture fits in the house very nicely.
We like the Pioneer Valley in western Massachusetts this is one gorgeous area.
How long we will stay here ,I don't know.
I do have to recuperate from the 9 K movers fee though ...
Still Trying to Find
my "Ordinary World "
Taking a note from Duran Duran's 90's hit "Ordinary World ":
Came in from a rainy Thursday on the avenue thought I heard you talking softly
I turned on the lights the TV and the radio but still I can't escape the ghost of you
What is happening to me crazy some would say
Where is the life that I recognize, gone away
And I won't cry for yesterday there's an ordinary world somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world I will learn to survive
Passion or coincidence once prompted you to say pride will tear us both apart
Well now pride's gone out the window cross the rooftops runaway
Left me in the vaccuum of my heart
What is happening to me crazy some will say where is my friend when I need you most gone away
But I won't cry for yesterday there's an ordinary world somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world I will learn to survive
Papers in the roadside tell of suffering and grief
Fear today forgot tomorrow beside the news of holy war and holy need
Our's is just a little sorrowed talk, just blown away
And I won't cry for yesterday there's an ordinary world somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world I will learn to survive
Every world is my world (I will learn to survive)
Any world is my world (I will learn to survive)
~ I keep hanging in there.~
Testing ,Testing
Fandango * is the name of my former neighbor's ferret....I actually put the f-bomb in this post initially and it was just that ...the f-bomb.
I tend not to use it in written form, although I've been known to say it ...over the course of the last 30 years.
I think it's over used.
Still , I hate to hear it at the grocery store.
* someone on t-blurt claimed that the f-bomb was being automatically replaced with "fandango " ; by t-blog today. This was in fact an untruth , as I determined a short while later...
So Dang Effen Bored
We are sitting in this hotel room watching movies and sitcoms until our brains bust , doing some kundalini yoga , taking turns online , walking the dog 4 times a day ,trying not to just stuff our faces senselessly all while we wait for all the things to line up for our grand entrance into our new rental ranch home on the 15th..
They gave me the keys last week , but I don't have everything set up yet and they have a few repairs to deal with as well.
Gotta paint, clean and oh yeah ..get our stuff from a Houston warehouse.
Seems Atlantic Relo needed a 2 week notice so our stuff may not be here until the 25th...a full 10 days after we've started renting the house.
Which isn't what they said when they packed up the stuff on the 16th & 17th of Oct., claiming to be "flexible".
I've used them for other moves with not much trouble. You see the longer they take to deliver our stuff, the more storage fee they get.
Refuse to stay in the house on the floor while cleaning , prepping and painting so it's a good thing this hotel room is affordable...
I also have to buy a few more things , like a breakfast nook for the kitchen, a new vacuum, air filters,a few more curtains ( not all of my other ones will work from the Texas house)and some extra blankets .
Still it's hard to wait .
We've made this huge effort to get here and take charge of our lives...this downtime is megafrustrating.
Chicken Painting Advice
Last night we were watching PBS,and this segment came on about this art festival in NC.
This fellow was showing his work and was asked how he got inspired to do it.
So with a strong North Carolina drawl he says
" My friend was talking to me one day and he said--Earnest you need to paint yourself some chickens..."
And so he did.
That was a dang funny response.Steff and I began laughing ourselves silly .
It was a very simplistic painting, I don't know if he ever sold it .
It wasn't my taste in art .
Still we wish him many sales....
